Para Pickleball
The International Para Pickleball Association has brought wheelchair and para standing under the same umbrella, in hopes to gain acceptance into both the World Ability Games and the Paralympics. We have combined these two modalities as well and will run concurrent programming with both style of athletes working out side-by-side, sometimes on same court, separately too.
Wheelchair Pickleball
Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the world, but is not yet included in the Paralympics. That doesn’t mean that T3 Adaptive is going to sit back and ignore this sport and modality. Australia is BIG on adaptive sports, and they will be hosting the Paralympics in 2032. Maybe we will get a T3 player there?
T3 has two certified Pickleball coaches: Kirk O and Steve Bunch. Steve has crossed over to PB from tennis, playing both standing and in a sports chair.
Steve is invaluable to our programming and services. He understands the mechanics of using a chair on a PB court, and spends hours crafting his game as a player and coach. Kirk has taken on this game, using the geometry and techniques learned in tennis, and transforming them into winning strategies for our players.
Our pickleball programming will begin this fall, most likely in Irvine, in the evenings. Interested in playing or volunteering?

Having a dedicated coach, Steve, maneuvering on a prosthetic leg, is invaluable to our programming and services. Kirk will be on hand for our PS Pickleball classes, too. Additionally, Jeff Bourns, one of our Advisory Board members, is an expert on PS equipment and the challenges of switching from a blade vs a shoe.
